Procurement Matters
P1. How do I fill in and submit my details? (As required in Para 9 in the letter to parents) |

P2. How do we sign the consent form? | |
>You can submit your consent by going to go.gov.sg/bdmspld (If you have access to your SingPass). Otherwise, you will need to submit the hardcopy in school. | |
P3. Can we collect the forms in the general office? | |
> Yes, you can. You can either collect the hardcopy of the form yourself or ask your child to collect from the school General Office. > You may also complete the form and submit the forms at the same time. |

P4. Can I purchase my own device and let the school install the DMA? | |
> We strongly encourage all parents to purchase the PLD for learning purpose through the school. > As stated in the online form and Annex D, parents may opt to purchase their own device. Do note you need to purchase a Chromebook with a stylus, fitted with 8GB RAM and 64 GB disk space. > As our school is using ChromeOS, our DMA cannot be installed on Windows or iPadOS. > Should you wish to purchase your own device, please inform your child’s Form Teacher or speak to the HOD ICT |

P5. Can my child use his/her personal Windows laptop or iPad during the lesson? | |
> As stated in Paragraph 7, the DMA allows the teacher to manage the students’ use of computing device during class time. Your child/ward will not be able to use his/her personal computing device in school. | |
P6. What does it mean by “2 Repairs or 1 Replacement”? | |
> Repairs and Replacements are dealt directly with the vendor. School will help facilitate the repairs and replacements using the fortnightly courier by Vendor. Eg. If the screen is cracked for the first time, parent can opt to repair the screen (free) or ask for a new replacement of the computer. > After the replacement of new computer, if the screen is cracked a second time, family will need to pay for the repairs |
Funding Support
F1. If I purchase a Chromebook from outside retailers, will I be able to pay using my child’s Edusave? |

> You can use Edusave to pay only when you purchase the device bundle from the school. |
F2. If there is more than money in my child’s Edusave account than the cost of the device bundle, do I need to pay any cash? |
> If there is sufficient funds in your child’s Edusave account, we will deduct the amount from Edusave. There is no need for any cash payment |
F3. Are there subsidies for PR/IS students? |
> MOE will support all students including PR/IS students who requires financial assistance. If the family GHI < $4000 or PCI <$1000, you may request for the Application for Subsidy for Purchase of PLD form. Please contact the school directly. > No child should be deprived of the opportunity to own the device. If you need assistance, please approach the school or submit a query through go.gov.sg/bdms-icthelp |
F4. When do we start paying for the device and where do we pay? |
> The school bill will be ready to be distributed to all Sec 1 students and their parents from 17 February 2021. We will only send the school bills to parents who need to make payment. > You may start to make payment after you receive the school bill.> If you would like to find out details of your school bill, please call the school. > Payment can be made using any of the following methods – GIRO/Cheque/Cash and other e-payment methods stated in the school bill. If you are paying by cheque or cash, you will need to come down to our school to make your payment. |
F5. Is there an option to pay using PayNow or Paylah! rather paying the cost in school? |
> Parents can scan the QR code on the school bill to make payments online. > Parents can still continue to pay cash at the school General Office |
About the Enhanced Device Bundle
D1. Will there still be warranty after my child graduates from school? |

> For students who purchased the device in 2022, the warranty will last for three years (until 2024), even if some of the students have graduated from school. This is a 3 year warranty from Lenovo. |
D2. I am worried about the wear and tear of rigorous usage….is there warranty and service desk in school? |
> The Enhanced bundle comes with 3 years warranty and 3 years insurance. > Students can make use of the fortnightly courier service offered by the contractor for repairs. |
D3. Does the device bundle come with the laptop charger? |
> Yes. The laptop will come with a USB C charger. |
D4. What other accessories are included along with the Chromebook? |
> The device bundle will come with a laptop charger, stylus, wired mouse and a carrier bag |
D5. What happens if my child lost the chromebook or broke it…. Will she be able to get replace a new one by school or do the parent need to use their own money to repair it? |
> Should your child lose the device, the contractor will decide whether a replacement can be made. Meanwhile, school will loan your child a device to use until a new device is available. |
D6. What if a stylus is misplaced or stolen or lost? is it replaceable? |
> Yes. It is replaceable. It will cost approximately $30. The contractor has created a website for parents who has purchased the device under this program and you can purchase accessories through it. You will need to register for a new account. > Note that you can only register for an account after you have collected and enrolled your PLD. |
D7. Is a stylus compulsory? What if my Chromebook doesn’t come with a stylus, do I need to buy a chromebook with stylus? |
> With the implementation of the PLD initiative, our curriculum will be adjusted to make use of the affordances of the device. The stylus will be useful when taking notes using the device, and it may be required to complete some of the tasks during lessons (eg. digital drawing during Art, making notes on images etc) |
D8. During the repair time, how will my child learn when he/she has no device? |
> While waiting for the device to be repaired, the school will loan a device to your child, so that learning will not be compromised. |
Other Enquiries
E1. Do we need to return the device after my child has graduated ? |

> The device belongs to you. The school will not collect the device from you. The DMA will be uninstalled when the student graduates. |
E2. Where do the students save their work while using the PLD? |
> Teachers use different ICT tools for lessons. Where possible, we will encourage students to save their working documents into the cloud (ie. Google Drive) or into the platform they are already using (eg. SLS, other learning portal). Students can choose to save their work into the PLD, or their personal thumb drive. |
E3. Any plans for going to E-books in future? Question is do we still have to buy these printed books?. |
> We are planning to use e-books in the near future as and when they are available from the publisher. We will determine the quality of the e-books before we decide to use them. |
E4. How long can students use their Student iCON/MIMS account?. |
> The Student iCON/MIMS account will be available as long as students are still studying in MOE schools (ie. Primary, Secondary and JC). These accounts will no longer be available to use once the students leave the school system |
E5. Is OneDrive included as part of the Microsoft Pro Plus package? |
> OneDrive is not included as part of the Microsoft Pro Plus package. Should students need to save their documents, they can save either in the Google Drive or into their PLD. > OneDrive will be made available soon to students. |
E6. How much disk space does the student have using their Student iCON/MIMS account? |
> Students have unlimited space available for their Google Drive. |
E7. How do we prevent a mix up of chrome book when every student brings to the class? |
> We will be giving students a label (name and school) to paste on their PLD. As the PLD belongs to the student, they can personalise their PLD. |
