Mr Ling Khoon Chow
Driven by his personal belief that every child has a talent, Mr Ling Khoon Chow focused on developing each child to the best of his abilities and inspiring our students to be active contributors. The school’s innovative programmes and efforts were aimed at developing the holistic child – engaging, enabling and enriching the students by “educating their heads”, “encouraging their hearts” and “empowering their hands”. Under his able leadership, the Applied Learning Programme in Health Science, which leveraged on the pedagogy of Authentic Problem-based Learning, aimed to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills through real-life problems, was introduced in 2015.
To deepen learning, the school integrated existing modules with application of academic knowledge and 21st century competencies. For example, a new Elective Module (EM) was developed in 2015 with the integration of sailing with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Mr Ling also implemented structured Values In Action (VIA) by levels for all students. In addition, he promoted the Arts@Bendemeer with Applause for a Cause in 2014 and Limelight in 2015. The Arts Education Programme as a whole-school approach was also formalized.
Recognising staff play a key role in the development of the students, structured time for school-based training was implemented. The school was awarded the Best Practice Award for Staff Well Being as a recognition for its innovative human resource practices.
